HEALDSBURG — Rack & Riddle Custom Wine Services, one of the North Coast’s largest custom winemakers, said it plans to have its second Sonoma County winery, located in Healdsburg, initially operational and have the company moved out of Hopland by mid-June.

HOPLAND — As St. Helena-based Duckhorn Wine Co. plans to shift full production of a rapidly growing brand to Mendocino County winery, Rack & Riddle Custom Wine Services is preparing to complete its relocation and expansion from that facility to Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley.

There have been few years in recent memory as ripe for merger-and-acquisition activity as 2013 in the wine industry, particularly on the North Coast. A perceived shortfall in grape supply, easing credit terms and favorable wine consumption trends in the U.S. set the stage for a strong year.
That momentum is likely to continue in 2014, including possible moves from international buyers.

HEALDSBURG — Custom winery Rack & Riddle Wine Services in Hopland plans to open a 67,000-square-foot winery in Healdsburg, particularly to accommodate growing demand for sparkling wine.
“Our expansion into Healdsburg, which is the first step in our expansion plan, gives us many more opportunities to serve our customers,” said managing partner Bruce Lundquist.
