Napa Valley wine auction harvests record $2.4 million
February 28th, 2011ST. HELENA — The Napa Valley Vintners’ annual wine futures auction to the trade held Feb. 26 in the Napa Valley, broke records finishing at nearly $2.4 million in sales. Last year’s PNV auction brought nearly 30 percent more than 2009’s take, and this year closed at 6 percent more than 2008’s record-setting $2.2 million.

The Wine Country Group merges with Better Homes and Gardens
February 17th, 2011SONOMA and NAPA COUNTIES — Bay Area real estate industry veterans Ed Krafchow, Earl Shuttleworth and Gerrett Snedaker announced today the formation of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Wine Country Group Realtors with nine offices and over 180 agents concentrated in northern California’s Wine Country.

St. Helena cancer center gets clinical trial approval
October 9th, 2010ST. HELENA – The Martin-O’Neil Cancer Center at St. Helena Hospital has earned government approval to enroll patients in national clinical trials designed to improve outcomes and reduce side effects. According to center Medical Director Gregory Smith, the center now has access to large national clinical trials covering most types of cancer and can enroll a patient for treatment in as little as 24 hours. The trials are National Cancer Institutes approved, which means Medicare and most insurance companies cover them.

Construction: Whole Foods testing local food concept in Mill Valley
June 7th, 2010The newly completed renovation of the 29,000-square-foot vacant Albertsons store as a second Whole Foods Market grocery store in Mill Valley represents a testing ground for new concepts for the Texas-based chain, according to regional spokesman Danny Olivas. The company now has four Marin County stores and 25 in the Bay Area.

March 9th, 2010NAPA VALLEY — The state Department of Food and Agriculture today declared 162 square miles in two portions of Napa Valley and tiny portions of Sonoma and Solano counties under quarantine to control what’s being called the first infestation of the European grapevine moth in the U.S.
