Jim Matthews was named senior vice president, sales and marketing, for Farrow Commercial, a nationwide commercial construction company based in Santa Rosa. Mr. Matthews has 28 years of corporate sales experience.

Hospitality & Tourism

Thomas Keller was appointed to the Culinary Institute of America board of trustees in Hyde Park, NY.  Mr. Keller is the only American-born chef to hold multiple three-star Michelin Guide ratings, with The French Laundry in Yountville and Per Se in New York City.

Allison Lane Simpson was appointed vice president, communications of the Napa Valley Destination Council. Ms. Simpson most recently owned Leap Forward Communications, a St. Helena-based communications consulting company.

Nicole Smartt became a co-owner of Star Staffing in Healdsburg and was appointed vice president.

Manufacturing

Chris Strain was named vice president and chief marketing officer of Petaluma-based CamelBak, maker of personal hydration gear. Mr. Strain was a partner at Outside Labs and also served as vice president of global marketing at Vans, which was acquired by Vanity Fair Corp. during his six-year tenure.

Joscelyne Alkus and Michael Kass joined Foundation Rentals and Relocation in its new offices in Kentfield.

Technology

Novato-based Sonic Solutions  appointed to its board of directors Dave Habiger, president and chief executive officer, Sonic Solutions; Kevin Hell, former chief executive officer, DivX Inc.; and Jim Brailean, Ph.D., chief executive officer and co-founder, PacketVideo.

Anthy O’Brien, president of Top Speed Data Communications in Petaluma, was selected as a member of AT&T’s National Advisory Council. The council is made up of 18 Master Agents, who sell AT&T products and services nationally.

Wine

Andy Manchon was hired as the new winery direct sales representative for Dutton Estate Winery in Sebastopol. His background includes ten years in the food services industry as well as an extensive wine sales history.

Winemaker Dan Goldfield of Dutton-Goldfield Winery in Sebastopol was named the Winemaker of the Year by Sunset Magazine. Of the three finalists, Mr. Goldfield, Bob Cabral of Williams Selyem and Christophe Baron of Cayuse, two were Russian River Valley winemakers.

Jim Caudill was appointed director of public relations and hospitality for The Hess Collection winery in Napa. Mr. Caudill previously served as vice president, public relations for Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates and as the California-based public relations manager for Brown-Forman wine brands.

Tory Sims is the new chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Seghesio Family Vineyards in Healdsburg. Mr. Sims is the former controller for Clos Pegase Winery and most recently the CFO for Cuvaison Winery.

Jefferson Hayman, a New York-based fine art photographer, was chosen for the Napa Valley-based Stags Leap Winery’s 2010 Artist in Residence program. Five of Mr. Hayman’s photographs will become part of the winery’s permanent collection and an exhibit of his work will be held Nov. 13.
