The Business Journal today announced the selection of a record 73 businesses and organizations as honorees in its seventh annual Best Places to Work in the North Bay.

The winners were selected by Business Journal editorial staff from almost 100 nominations based on several criteria, including the results of an anonymous employee survey and a company application that provided information on issues such as diversity, family-friendly workplace, community involvement and employee benefits.

The winning companies ranged in size from 20 employees -- the minimum to participate -- to more than 1,000. There were nearly 6,500 responses to the survey this year. There are nine first-time recipients of the Best Places to Work Award this year, which represents 12 percent of the overall awards. Seven outstanding companies were seven-time winners in 2012: Burr Pilger Mayer, Exchange Bank, First Community Bank, Ghirado CPA, Kaiser Permanente, Redwood Credit Union and Valley Tire and Brake.

Congratulations and thanks to all who participated. A gala reception to honor 2012 Best Places to Work winners will be on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek in Santa Rosa at 4:30 p.m. Profiles of the recipients will appear in a special publication in the Sept. 24 issue of North Bay Business Journal.

Winners are listed first by their employee survey score and then by the percent of employees who participated in the survey starting with the highest.20--50 employeesCompanyScoreO'Brien Watters and Davis, LLP4.9Scott Technology Group4.9Metier Ltd.4.9  Bank of Napa4.8QuieTrack Insurance Service4.8Innovative Business Solutions 4.8Wright Contracting, Inc. 4.8  Mr. Rooter Plumbing4.7Summit Engineering4.7Smith Dollar PC4.7Codding Enterprises4.7Ghirardo CPA4.7  Vantreo Insurance Brokerage4.6Schurter, Inc.4.6Friedemann Goldberg LLP4.6M.A. Silva4.6Vasyli LLC4.6Inn Marin/Ricey's4.6Play-Well TEKnologies4.6  Burr Pilger Mayer4.5Heffernan Insurance Brokers4.5Woodruff-Sawyer & Co.4.5Petaluma People Services Center4.5Abbey, Weitzenberg, Warren & Emery4.5Cardno ERI4.5  Dal Poggetto and Company LLP4.4TLCD Architecture4.4Quattrocchi Kwok Architects4.4Frank Howard Allen4.4  Ghilotti Bros., Inc.4.3Valley Tire and Brake4.3Private Ocean4.3  Marizco Landscape Management, Inc4.1
