NAPA -- In keeping with its location in the heart of wine country, Cinemark Holdings, Inc., opened a new 12-screen high-technology movie theater complete with a wine bar.
This new Cinemark XD theater features the CineVino Wine Bar delivering a perfect pairing of local wine and beer brands with the latest 3-D and conventional movies every week.
The bar has a luxury lounge and serves wine from the Trinchero Family Estates and Francis Ford Coppola Wineries, along with beer from the Lagunitas Brewing Company and the Napa Smith Brewery, complemented by a variety of small plate selections.
Cinemark Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CNK) signed a lease agreement with the Peter A. and Vernice H. Gasser Foundation, owner and developer of the land at the new site, for Cinemark to become the anchor tenant for the new South Napa Century Center, located at 195 Gasser Dr., across from the South Napa Marketplace shopping center.

The location near the thoroughfares of Soscol Avenue and West Imola Drive replaced Cinemark's previously owned Century Cinedome 8 in downtown Napa on Pearl Street with a 41,700 square foot Cinemark XD Theatre with more than 900 parking spaces at the South Napa Century Center. Cinemark is the parent company of Century Theatres.
The new theatre is part of the 15-acre, 270,000 square foot Napa Century Center project that also includes a 163,000 square foot shopping center.
"We've taken the entertainment experience to the next level," said Cinemark's Vice President of Marketing and Communications James Meredith.
"The Napa Cinemark theatre is one of the most cutting-edge movie venues with the latest technology available in the region."
Every auditorium in this next-generation multiplex provides a state-of-the-art Cinemark XD extreme digital cinema entertainment environment including wall-to-wall and ceiling to floor screens.
This theatre has more than 2,065 plush stadium-style seats and an enhanced Dolby Atmos digital surround sound system.
In addition, the 4K digital projection system, with a Doremi computer server feeding to Barco DLP projectors, offers the brightest light standards in the industry, according to Cinemark. Half the 12 theater auditoriums also have "RealD" 3-D capability.

Customer preferred self-service concessions are featured, and an online "print at home" ticketing option makes it easy for patrons to purchase tickets in advance.
Theater-goers can also download and purchase tickets through Cinemark's mobile applications available for iPhone and Android phones.
The Napa Cinemark XD location was designed to be the company's first theater eligible for certification under the LEED green-building design and construction rating system.
The theater is earning points toward Gold-level LEED certification in several categories: sustainable sites, water-efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality.
In addition to deploying sustainable practices during construction, LEED highlights of the new building include incorporating high-efficiency lighting and HVAC systems that are designed to perform 35 percent better than required under California's Title 24-2008 building code.
The theater also uses LED lighting fixtures within the interior, as well as for parking lot and for security lighting, along with an indirect evaporative-cooling system delivering chilled outside air for comfortable indoor air quality.
A 100-kilowatt photovoltaic solar array provides on-site renewable energy, reducing dependence on the public electric grid.
Rainwater from the theaters and neighboring properties is harvested and stored in large underground cisterns, limiting reliance on the city water system for irrigation. Green cleaning practices -- such as the recycling of cardboard and plastics -- also have been employed.
Another unique attraction is the display of new public art by renowned Napa artist Gordon Huether. Five back-lit panels depicting movie-related images adorn the back of the building, providing the community with an opportunity to celebrate the visual art of motion pictures through Mr. Huether's static images.
Beck Architecture, LLC, designed the new Cinemark XD theaters, which opened Nov. 10, 2012. Moorefield Construction was the general contractor and Foulk, Gomez and Associates, Inc., provided engineering services.
Napa-based vanderToolen Associates, Inc., designed landscaping with a contemporary theme utilizing drought tolerant plants in colors and textures that complement the modern architecture of the theaters.
