Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae announced it was ranked as one of the safest hospitals in the United States by national nonprofit hospital watchdog The Leapfrog Group. According to new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades released Oct. 31, Marin General Hospital was among 844 hospitals out of 2,600 evaluated to receive an 'A' ranking for safety, which notes how well the hospital protects its patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The Hospital Safety Grade is calculated under the guidance of Leapfrog's Blue Ribbon Expert Panel and uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single grade representing a hospital's overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm.
