The Sandman Hotel in Santa Rosa has completed a $3.5 million renovation that includes upgrades to its 135 guestrooms and makeovers to the lobby and pool area, the hotel announced.

The new 2-story lobby of the hotel, located at 3421 Cleveland Ave., includes a 16-foot floor-to-ceiling façade and coffered ceiling, while the new pool house and bar provide an indoor-outdoor space with a retractable glass garage-door.

'The newly refreshed Sandman Hotel is a throwback to roadside inns, a celebration of the motor lodge reinvented for today's travelers who seek spontaneous adventures,' said Lauren Bodsworth, general manager. 'Our goal with the refresh to this property is to really embrace our local community while still appealing to travelers who truly want to capture the essence of an impromptu getaway.'

Other enhancements include new landscaping, fencing, exterior painting and outdoor lighting.

Hotel management said the newly appointed guestrooms include custom quilts handing above the beds. Solid brass sconces by Oregon-based lighting company Cedar & Moss replace traditional bedside reading lamps.

Some guestrooms also offer a small seating area with a marble-topped café table made by furniture maker Christopher Naefke, in Alameda, and Parisian-style chairs designed by Michael Thonet for Design Within Reach in Connecticut.
