Sonoma State University business school gets accreditation extension; other North Bay business news

The School of Business and Economics at Sonoma State University announced that it received a full extension of its accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business through 2022. The multi-year continuous improvement process involved an internal review and peer evaluation.

SSU stated that standards outlined by AACSB International require demonstration of excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Sentinels of Freedom and Sonoma Raceway will join forces to play hosts to the third Military Career Day at the raceway's Toyota/Save Mart 350 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series weekend on Friday, June 23.

The event will include workshops, panel presentations and a job fair featuring more than 40 Bay Area companies.

The Career Day is open to all active, guard, reserve, veterans and military spouses. The focus will be on translating the skill sets of military members transitioning to the job market, and include information on nontraditional careers for veterans with disabilities. The event will be held in a hospitality chalet located above Turn 2 of the road course from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The first 200 Career Day participants will be admitted free to the raceway They will also receive two reserved seat tickets to the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Monster EneRgy NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, June 25. Job seekers must pre-register on the Sonoma Raceway website.

Marin General Hospital Foundation's annual black-tie gala, “New York, New York,” was held in Corte Madera on May 6, raising $750,000 for Marin's new Breast Health Center.

More than 600 attendees in support of this year's beneficiary, slated for opening on June 8. The Breast Health Center will be located at 100A Drakes Landing, Suite 140, Greenbrae, 94904 and can be reached at 415-461-4282.

Donations helped Yountville businesses reach a goal of raising $85,000 to help support the creation of a mural in an underpass in the Napa Valley community.

In addition to Jessup Cellars, donors that helped the project reach its goal include the town of Yountville, the Vine Trail Coalition, the Inn's & Hotels of Yountville – Yountville Tourism Improvement Districts at and the Villagio Inn & Spa and Vintage Estates.

Redwood Credit Union employees contributed more than $45,000 to local nonprofits by sponsoring, fundraising, and participating in Human Race events in Sonoma, Marin, and Mendocino counties.

More than 100 volunteers walked or ran in the Sonoma and Mendocino counties races, while RCU's Marin and Napa counties branch locations raised funds for local nonprofits through the Bay Area Human Race, which took place at the Marin County Fairgrounds. The Human Race events are put on by the local volunteer centers in each county.

Unionpack, a provider of screw caps and polylam capsules in the wine and spirits industry, is working with Napa Valley Unified School District's Specialized Vocational Services program. American Canyon-based Unionpack will provide paid employment to a few of the American Canyon High School graduates. After a 40-hour paid training period, the company stated it permanently hired all three students participating in the program.
