Wine company Truett-Hurst, Inc. (Nasdaq: THST), appointed Karen Weaver as chief financial officer

Effective April 27, Weaver also is principal accounting officer, the Healdsburg-based company announced Monday. She has been vice president and controller since Dec. 18.

"Karen has done outstanding work as our corporate controller and will bring extensive experience managing public company finance teams across industries and a process-driven approach to the position of CFO,” said Phillip Hurst, CEO, in the press release. “We look forward to working with Karen in this new role."

Weaver has about 30 years of management, leadership and industry experience leading finance functions for early-stage to public companies, including a few in the North Bay. She has worked with domestic and foreign operations in the technology, biotechnology, manufacturing and financial-services industries.

From 2014 through last year, Weaver was vice president of finance for Amyris, Inc., an Emeryville-based publicly traded biotechnology company. Before that, she was vice president and corporate controller 2012–2014 and joined as assistant controller in 2011.

From 2006 into 2011, she worked for Novato-based publicly trade software developer Sonic Solutions, which was acquired by Rovi in 2010. Her last role there was vice president and controller, and she oversaw a global finance team, Truett-Hurst said.

In 2000, Weaver was director of operations support for newly public of Novato. San Rafael-based Phoenix American Financial Services acquired it that year, and Weaver worked there as vice president and controller until 2006.

Truett-Hurst is the controlling owner of H.D.D., LLC, maker and marketer of superpremium, ultrapremium and luxury wines from a base of operations in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County.
