Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc. announced the appointment of Shalini Sharp as chief financial officer and senior  vice president of finance, effective May 21.  Ms.  Sharp will be a member of the senior management team and will be responsible for leading the corporate finance function. Ms. Sharp joins Ultragenyx from Agenus Inc. (formerly Antigenics Inc.), a publicly traded  biotech firm, where she has served as CFO since 2006.  Ms. Sharp holds  both a BA, magna cum laude, and MBA from Harvard University.Health Care

Dr. Peter N. Bretan, Jr. joined the medical staff at Healdsburg District Hospital as a urologist specializing in transplantation and laparoscopic oncologic surgery.

Dr. Kristin Kline joined Northern California Medical Associates' Head and Neck Surgical Group in Santa Rosa, specializing in assessment and treatment of the balance and the hearing systems.Residential Real Estate

Ian Kalember has joined Terra Firma Global Partners  as a  sales associate in the Sonoma County offices. Mr. Mr. Kalember comes to Terra Firma Global Partners with more than 11 years as a sales trainer for Fidelity National Home Warranty Company. He has experience as a pre-foreclosure consultant, and is a certified short sale agent.  Hecurrently serves as vice chair to the Sebastopol Entrepreneurs Project and the Downtown Association.  He is also an appointed member of the City's Business Outreach Committee, and sits on the board of directors for the Sebastopol Chamber of CommerceStaffing

Dotti David has joined PrincetonOne's San Rafael office as an account executive, providing executive search and recruitment solutions to the building products industry. Ms. David comes from a strong business and recruitment background. Prior to joining PrincetonOne, she gained experience as a recruiter at a large search firm in San Francisco. She has also owned and operated her own recruiting agency in Northern California, which specialized in IT and legal direct hire placements.

Kathy Priem also joined PrincetonOne as an account executive, providing executive search and recruitment solutions to the information technology industry. Ms. Priem has over 20 years of experience working within the information technology industry. Her background includes technology management experience within the financial services sector, broad professional services operations management experience with a consulting services company and experience in talent acquisition and account management.Wine

Benovia Winery hired  Robert  Cooley to head up the sales and marketing of the Russian River Valley producer’s wines. Mr. Cooley had held the same position at Landmark Vineyards in Kenwood for 18 years until the winery was sold in August last year. Mr. Cooley is also a managing partner of Grape Ventures LLC, a 20-acre chardonnay vineyard in Potter Valley. Mr. Cooley has decades of experience in the wine business , having worked with managing sales and distribution, developing second wine labels, sitting on tasting panels, working in wine production and representing Pinot Noir growers at expos in the U.S. as well as Europe.

Theresa Heredia is now a winemaker for Gary Farrell Winery in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. She replaces Susan Reed, who had been at the winery since 2003. Ms. Heredia trained in enology and chemistry at the University of California, Davis. She first worked in France and then at Saintsbury in Napa Valley.

Jason Rose was named culinary director for stores Dean & DeLuca in St. Helena and Oakville Grocery, Rudd Oakville Estate and Edge Hill Winery, all part of the Leslie Rudd Investment Co. Duties include designing prepared food and private-label products for the stores and catering private events at the wineries. Previously, he was executive chef for Rams Gate Winery in Sonoma, project manager for Delfina Restaurant Group, culinary director for Tyler Florence Group and in the same role at San Francisco nonprofit food production incubator La Cocina.
