Sonoma's Nelson Staffing promotes Madigan to CEO

Nelson Staffing announced on Monday the promotion of Executive Vice President Joe Madigan to CEO.

Madigan will assume CEO responsibilities for the company’s Sonoma headquarters effective January 1, 2018.

“I can’t think of anyone more qualified to lead the future of Nelson,” said Craig Nelson, chairman of the board. “Joe’s extensive experience in the staffing industry and with Nelson, combined with his passion for our business, clients, and community, exemplifies our core values. He also understands how to foster collaborative business relationships, which will continue to strengthen the company’s growth and brand awareness.”

Current interim Nelson CEO, Jack Unroe, will resume his previous position on the Nelson Family of Companies Board of Directors and assist with Madigan’s transition to CEO.

Madigan has more than 20 years of recruiting and networking experience in the Bay Area and more than 13 years of experience with Nelson. He joined Nelson in 2004 as a branch manager of Nelson & Associates, the company’s finance and accounting specialty division. In eight years, he ascended the division’s leadership ranks and advanced to vice president. His long-term contributions to the company’s success and his forward-thinking leadership style in 2016, led to his most recent promotion to executive vice president, the company said.

Madigan also leads Nelson’s partnership with Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this tremendously innovative and philanthropic organization,” said Madigan. “Nelson’s company values align perfectly with what is important to me, both professionally and personally: providing exceptional service and making an impact in the community. I look forward to continuing to work with the Board and professionals at Nelson to help bolster the success of our company, our clients, and the talent we place.”
