Women in Business gala Thursday

NORTH BAY – The Business Journal’s ninth annual Women in Business Awards Dinner Gala Thursday will honor eight women from Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties who have distinguished themselves as leaders, innovators and visionaries in their fields.

The 2009 Women in Business winners in their respective categories are: Marlene Soiland, Soiland Management Co., Construction; Kate King, Napa Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development; Frances White, College of Marin, Education; Elaine Petrocelli, Book Passage, Entrepreneurship; Jill Magri, Kaiser Permanente, Health Care; Cris Chater, Senior Access, Nonprofit; Gabriella Ambrosi, Sequoia Senior Solutions, Senior Living; and Sally McCoy, CamelBak, Technology.

The keynote speaker will be bestselling author and hall of fame speaker Sheila Murray Bethel, Ph.D. In addition to authoring five books, Dr. Murray Bethel is creator and host of two National Public Television specials and has given more than 3,000 presentations to over two million people in 20 countries. Her newest book, “A New Breed of Leader: 8 Leadership Qualities that Matter Most in the Real World … What Works, What Doesn’t and Why,” explores the essential qualities needed to be an effective leader in this rapidly changing world.

The profiles of award winners will also be featured in a special publication supplementing the June 29 issue of the Business Journal.

The awards dinner will be held at the Sheraton Sonoma County in Petaluma from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $74 per person or $725 for a table of 8, including company name on the table.
