New CAO for Sutter; Cohill takes broader role

SANTA ROSA — A new chief administrator has been named to oversee daily operations of Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa as hospital chief executive Mike Cohill, now Sutter Health senior vice president and continuing medical foundation CEO, will focus on the new Santa Rosa hospital project and larger health system changes.
New Chief Administrative Officer Michael Purvis brings more than 20 years of experience in hospital leadership. He most recently was a consultant focusing on strategic growth, operations, patient safety and quality performance. His career also includes service with the Humboldt County region of St. Joseph Health System and in administration with Baptist Hospitals and Health Systems, leading four hospitals and other regional health facilities.
Mr. Purvis will report to Sutter West Bay Region North Bay Hospitals CEO David Bradley.
Mr. Cohill will continue his role securing necessary Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approvals for construction of the new Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa. He will also maintain his role as chief executive of the Sutter Medical Foundation North Bay as both the physician group and hospital transition into inclusion in Sutter’s West Bay Region.
