Redwood Regional Medical Group expands offerings

SANTA ROSA -- Redwood Regional Medical Group added two orthopedic surgeons to its practice at 121 Sotoyome St. in Santa Rosa.

Dr. Steven Smith and Dr. Briant Smith have a combined 44 years of experience in their specialty.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer the exceptional skills of these fine surgeons to the community under the Redwood Regional banner. As we expand our practice, focusing on quality care, this was a very good fit,” said Wayne Fairchild, chief executive officer of the group.

Dr. Steven Smith returned to Sonoma County, where he managed private practice for more than 20 years. He most recently practiced at Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon, Nev., where he worked closely with the physicians at the Fallon Naval Air Station.

He received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine and did his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas’ Health Science Center in Houston.

Dr. Briant Smith practiced at Kaiser Permanente prior to joining Redwood. He specializes in joint replacement as well as sports medicine and general orthopedic surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco after completing a master’s degree in pharmacology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at UCSF as well.

Dr. Briant Smith and Dr. Steven Smith will also see patients in other communities in the North Bay.

Redwood Regional Medical Group is one of the largest physician-owned multi-specialty private practices in the North Bay with nine medical campuses, over 40 physicians and more than 300 care providers. It serves about 500 patients daily. Its practice areas now include radiology, oncology, orthopedics, surgery and research.
