NOVATO – Sonic Solutions (Nasdaq: SNIC) and integrated silicon solutions developer Marvell of Santa Clara formed a strategic partnership to expand the reach of RoxioNow and DivX Plus HD technology on connected consumer electronics devices. Sonic Solutions recently entered a pending $720 million merger agreement with Santa Clara-based Rovi Corp.
RoxioNow will be integrated into HDTV and Blu-ray Disc player chipsets, and DivX Plus HD Certification will be incorporated on Blu-ray Disc player system-on-a-chip for playback of DivX MKV video files in 1080p. Built-in RoxioNow capabilities will allow Marvell-based HDTV and Blu-ray Disc player users to have instant access to an array of entertainment offerings streamed directly to their sets over the Internet.
