NORTH BAY – As a means of assisting the many job seekers across California, the Employment Development Department last month released data on industry-specific job posts throughout counties, including the cities and occupations with the most help wanted ads.
Across the North Bay, the numbers and available jobs were telling – heath care and staffing agencies posted the most available jobs in Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties. In Marin, part of a three-county region that includes San Francisco and San Mateo, the tech sector easily outpaced all other areas, while health care, staffing agencies and the financial sector showed a significant amount of posts, as well.
Across Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties, Kaiser Permanente facilities topped all other employers in available jobs, and only in Napa County did another employer have one more job post, although it was another health care employer, St. Helena Hospital.
A total of 175 positions at Kaiser facilities were posted in Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties. Another 210 were posted throughout Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo, according to the data. Sutter Health barely bested Kaiser in Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo, with 224 jobs posted.
In Solano County, the top four organizations posting jobs were all in health care – Kaiser, at 74; Direct Therapy, at 26; NorthBay Healthcare, at 21; and HealthOne, a nursing staffing agency, at 19.
The trend was similar in Sonoma County, where three of the top four job posters were in health care, led by Kaiser, Critical Connection, a health care staffing agency, and Sutter Health. Appleone, an employment agency, posted 29 job ads and was second to Kaiser, which posted 64.
Specific industry breakdowns for Marin County weren’t available, but San Rafael and Novato had 504 and 479 job posts, respectively. Both cities have Kaiser and Sutter facilities.
Registered nurses were most in demand, by far, in Sonoma, Solano and Napa, with 244 job ads across the three counties. Across Marin, San Francisco and the Peninsula, that number rose to 787, which is dwarfed by the computer software engineers, web developers and computer systems analysts, which combined accounted for more than 4,000 available jobs.
