TenCate to consolidate 100 employees in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD -- TenCate Advanced Composites USA, Inc., a manufacturer of composites for space, aerospace and industrial applications, is moving its Benicia operations currently in three separate buildings to a single 65,000-square-foot former warehouse in Fairfield.

Approximately 100 employees now at 2970, 2990, and 3070 Bay Vista Court in Benicia will be relocated to 2450 Cordelia Road in Fairfield between October and December this year.

This four-month phased transition is part of a consolidation program designed to bring workers together, as well as provide additional room for growth.

"We considered our options and found that it would be inefficient to remodel the existing space to fit our needs," said Paul Draghi, vice president of operations for TenCate in Benicia. "The new facility will enable us to combine our production, quality control and management teams under one roof."

TenCate is a leading supplier of specialty materials ranging from ballistic armor protection to advanced composites used in commercial aircraft.

The firm’s products are also used in interiors, satellites and space antennas, radomes for military and commercial aircraft, general aviation as well as aerospace molded parts for helicopter inserts and missile fins.

"We continue to grow and see a sustained market for our composite materials, hence the need for expansion," according to Michael Cichon, director of product marketing for TenCate."

The company has a rich, 300-year history and employs more than 4,500 personnel in 15 countries with 1,400 employees in the U.S. TenCate has annual sales in excess of $1 billion. All company groups focus heavily on innovation and on delivering value through materials technology.

TenCate is a supplier of composite pre-impregnated thermoset epoxies and cyanate esters, thermoplastic laminates, adhesives, and a variety of prepreg tapes in a number of fiber and thermoplastic laminates, combinations and syntactic foams.

The company operates two production facilities in the U.S., at Benicia and Morgan Hill, plus one in Nijverdal, The Netherlands, the firm’s European headquarters. The company has eight other locations in the U.S. dedicated to other activities.

TenCate’s aerospace facilities are certified with ISO 9001-2008 and AS 9100-2004 Rev B approvals.

Each of these plants has full capability for the production of high performance materials.

Both U.S. sites maintain carbon-free areas for the production of low-dielectric materials used in radomes and communication composite structures.

TenCate corporate headquarters is located at 18410 Butterfield Blvd. in Morgan Hill. For information, go to www.tencate.com or by email at tcac-us@tencate.com or advancedcomposites.americas@tencate.com
