Community First to open third 'smart' branch; RCU to get 'smart' ATMs

HEALDSBURG -- Santa Rosa-based Community First Credit Union, which has more than 12,000 members in Sonoma County, plans to open a "smart office" in Healdsburg on Tuesday, the third such branch for the financial cooperative in the past 10 months.

The new office, located at 32 North St.,will be like "smart" branches the credit union set up in the west Sonoma County community of Guerneville in April and in Sebastopol in November. Those offices have a on-site loan officer, financial concierge and one of the new types of ATMs that accepts deposits of loose bills and checks.

Such ATMs are catching on. Large ATM maker NCR Corporation last month said 200,000-member Redwood Credit Union of Santa Rosa contracted with the company to add those capabilities to 29 of its existing ATMs.

Community First's Healdsburg office is located one block north of the Healdsburg Plaza and a half-block east of the parking lot used for the twice weekly farmers’ market. The on-site real estate loan officer is Catherine Brunner, a 26-year Healdsburg resident who has spent 21 years in the mortgage business. Christopher Joubert, also a Healdsburg resident, is the on-site financial concierge.

Gary Finnan of Windsor-based The GFC Group designed the interior of the Healdsburg branch. He is co-owner of the Powell’s Sweet Shoppe in Healdsburg.

Community First also has two full-service branches in central and west Santa Rosa. It has 12,319 members, $120 million in assets and had net revenues of $1.45 million last year.
