NAPA -- Tyler Florence Rotisserie & Wine, a bistro that replicates an authentic Parisian experience complete with a sidewalk cafe and retail shop is at 720 Main St. in the Napa Riverfront complex.
The 2,200-square-foot restaurant with 70 seats boasts a variety of simple and delicious local dishes, such as prime rib, lamb ribs, porchetta and chicken, rotating slowly on a duo of French rotisseries in the open, demonstration-style, kitchen.
These and other entrees are supported by sides, or “fixin’s,” reminiscent of the Old South and always preceded by cornstick appetizer puffs.
“The entire project was a collaborative effort with Food Network veteran Tyler and his wife and business partner, Tolan, as well as other members of the design team from start to finish,” said Clay Haberman, project engineer with Johnson, Lyman Architects.
“Decorator Lori Yeoams, principal with USA Interior Design, was instrumental in creating the atmosphere and climate that truly makes the fine qualities of Tyler Florence Rotisserie & Wine stand out.”
Ledcor Construction Inc., was the general contractor for this project as well as the builder of a stone façade entrance, similar in many ways to an old European storefront, along with a distinctive tower.
The rustic, family-style dining room has seats reminiscent of a school cafeteria and features white subway-style tile, polished concrete floors and walls accented with walnut wainscot paneling.
There is also a bar with a marble countertop and room for 15. A number of wood painted displays accentuate the interior.
Large windows and doors welcome natural daylight and open to a seating area on the porch overlooking the river. The promenade side of the building serves as the main entrance to the Rotisserie.
The outdoor dining area, with seating for 50 guests, has several oversize iron and wood rocking chairs made from repurposed wine barrel staves accompanied by custom-made wood tables and classic schoolhouse chairs.
The principal source of indoor lighting is provided by a series of unique half wine barrel chandeliers crafted by Richard Trujillo of Napa.
Custom cabinetry was designed and produced by artisan Christopher Peacock. Trimark supplied equipment for the restaurant.
West Coast Kitchen Essentials, located next to the restaurant at 710 Main St. is a wine shop dedicated to displaying an assortment of Tyler Florence kitchen products as well as antiques, old fashion bottles and utensils from days gone by.
This retail store stocks everything from sauces and marinades used in the Rotisserie to serving platters, wine bottleneck charms, pots and pans and other items found useful for entertaining.
In addition, all of the signature items in the French-style bistro -- from the chandeliers, flatware and glassware to rocking chairs -- are also on sale.
Tyler Florence Rotisserie & Wine is one of three restaurants established by the Florence family in the Bay Area. Others include the Wayfarer in San Francisco and El Paseo, located close to another Tyler Florence retail shop in Mill Valley.
