Palm Drive names new interim CEO

SEBASTOPOL -- The Palm Drive Healthcare District named current Chief Financial Officer Rick Reid as interim chief executive, replacing Charles Guenther, who himself was serving on a three-month interim basis.

Mr. Reid is vice president of finance and controller for Marin General Hospital. He also works as CFO for Sonoma Valley Hospital, the result of an affiliation deal that both Sonoma County hospitals reached with the larger Marin General last year.

Mr. Guenther, former CEO of Eastern Plumas Health Care in Portola, and the hospital mutually agreed to part ways, according to the Palm Drive board. He was hired in January, shortly after Palm Drive affiliated with Marin General, for $25,000 a month that goes toward financial and CEO services.

Mr. Reid will serve as interim CEO while the district continues to look for a permanent hire. The 37-bed hospital has had nine CEOs in the past five years.
