Investment Advisor magazine recognized Greg Friedman, CEO and co-founder of San Rafael-based wealth-management firm Private Ocean, as one of the country's top 25 advisers. This marks the third time since 2008 Mr. Friedman, a 20-year veteran in financial services, has been on that list. Mr. Martinez graduated from Sonoma State University with a business administration degree focusing on finance. With a background in commercial construction, he specializes in sales and leasing for office and industrial properties for business owners and investors.Construction

Santa Rosa structural engineering firm MKM & Associates has added five people in the past two months, bringing its staff to 14 engineers -- including  principals Larry Miyano, Bud Malminis, Jeff Kennedy, Eric Kreager and John Cook -- seven technicians and three on the support team.

MKM recently joined forces with Santa Rosa structural design firm Rogina Pestell. Dave Rogina and Steve Pestell bring over 45 years of structural engineering experience. MKM also hired Leslie Gossage, a structural technician with over 15 years of experience. Also hired was Nick Stuart, an engineer relocating from the Santa Cruz area with a BS in architectural engineering with experience in steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and seismic/wind analysis and design. Jimmy Bliss also joined the team as a structural technician with a BS in civil and environmental engineering from Brigham Young University.Energy

John Weber was elected to the board of directors of Petaluma-based Enphase Energy. Mr. Weber has numerous years of engineering, design and manufacturing experience. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Remy International in the electric motor market as its president and CEO from 2006 to February 2013 and was elected to its board in January 2006. He has also held executive positions at GE, Allied Signal, McKinsey, Honeywell, Vickers and Shell.Health Care

Two physicians recently joined the Advanced Wound Center at Ukiah Valley Medical Center -- William Cress, MD, general surgeon, and Jeffrey Rapp, MD, emergency and occupational medicine physician. That increases the number of panel doctors to eight. Dr. Rapp has been practicing emergency and occupational medicine in Ukiah since 1990. The center is an outpatient facility that focuses on chronic and nonhealing wounds.Insurance

Briana Birch joined Wells Fargo Insurance in Petaluma as a commercial lines account manager. She was previously at Vantreo Insurance.Law

Ken Cyphers moved his law practice from Santa Rosa to Healdsburg to work with law firm Welty | Welty, PC. He will continue to advise clients on matters involving real estate, civil litigation, bankruptcy and estate planning. Previously, he worked at Santa Rosa law firm Perry, Johnson, Anderson, Miller & Moskowitz, LLP, until May. Mr. Cyphers started his legal career as an in-house litigation attorney for the GEICO insurance company. He then joined the New York City insurance defense firm of Morris Duffy Alonso & Faley as an associate. He worked for Sonoma County developer Orrin Thiessen from 2004 to 2008 and also served as a planning commissioner for the town of Windsor.Wine

Jordan Vineyard & Winery hired Nick Literski as regional sales director for the winery’s western territory. Mr. Literski brings more than 15 years of winery and wholesale sales, as well as hospitality expertise. Most recently he was vice president of sales for Rottweiler Hardware. Mr. Literski is a 1996 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He worked as a chef and manager at Las Vegas restaurants, hotels and nightclubs, before transitioning into wine sales management.
