Local manufacturers sought for high schooler job-shadowing

High school students and teachers will be able to shadow North Bay manufacturers in March and April, getting a closeup view of what happens on the factory floor.

Sponsored by 101MFG, a private alliance of Northern California manufacturers, the program is in its third year and growing in popularity among North Bay students, who choose among high-technology companies to visit. Last year, 200 students were introduced to 30 companies.

"There's no better way to learn about your future career than to see experienced experts in action," said 101MFG President Dick Herman. "Engineering, finance, marketing, HR, administration, production, machinists -- these are just some of the careers at our manufacturers."

He's asking companies to step forward to participate in this year's program, scheduled to run on March 18--20, April 8--10 and April 22--24.

To register, students must be sponsored by a teacher or counselor and fill out a form no later than March 7.101MFG job-shadowing links
