Conference to feature Mondavi, ag preserve

A discussion about the future of Napa County's ag preserve and a rare conversation with one of the industry's leading voices, Margrit Biever Mondavi, will be presented at the seven annual Impact Napa -- Wine conference Thursday.

The conference will be from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the The Meritage Resort & Spa in south Napa.

Panelists include Clay Gregory, president and CEO of Visit Napa Valley, which deploys money raised from the Napa Valley Tourism Improvement District in promoting local food, wine and entertainment. Tourism is the second-largest industry in the valley, bringing in more than $1.3 billion annually. A discussion of the valley's future and the role of the ag preserve will include Dennis Groth, president of Groth Vineyards & Winery, and Alex Ryan, President and CEO of Duckhorn Wine Company.

Veteran practitioner and instructor in wine law Richard Mendelson of Napa-based Dickenson Peatman & Fogarty will conduct the interview with Ms. Mondavi and will also moderate the tourism and ag preserve discussions.

A second panel representing a new generation of innovators in the valley will include Vanessa Robledo, president and managing partner of Black Coyote Wines, Perry Hoffman, chef, Etoile Restaurant at Domaine Chandon and Caleb Mosley of Quintessa Winery. Mr. Mendelson will moderate this discussion as well.
