SAN RAFAEL -- This family-owned certified organic manufacturer of more than 100 personal care items sells its products under the EO brand. The company's health and beauty aids are gentle, safe, free from animal testing and made from herbs, essential oils and other natural and sustainable botanical sources.
Small World was established in 1995 by co-owners Brad Black and Susan Griffin-Black. Today they have the help of more than 40 employees who they say are the "force and heart of EO."
An employee said, "I'm very proud to sell products in our industry. We're not a 'me, too,' company. It all comes back to the team effort, a family of artistic, creative, and dedicated souls who love what they do."
The company donates thousands of dollars worth of its products to local community partners on a monthly basis. "We also host many community events for like-minded groups and organizations," Mr. Black said.
"We recently sponsored such an event for the North Bay B Corporation community in addition to a documentary film screening to support a cancer nonprofit."
"This company redefined what work should be," one employee said. "The owners are good, honest and real people. They practice what they preach. I swore off working in offices until I was invited to come and spend a few days here. I'm in love."
