Supervisors sign off on airport plans
January 24th, 2012SANTA ROSA — The Sonoma County Supervisors today officially signed off an $84 million safety upgrade and expansion of Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport but tabled a proposed health and noise study on the project. Construction could start in August if the Federal Aviation Administration OKs the plan by April as anticipated.

January 10th, 2012SANTA ROSA — The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved an $84 million upgrade to Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport that will enhance safety, add a new passenger terminal, provide longer runways and allow mid-sized commercial jets to land at the airport.

SMART board approves first construction contract
January 9th, 2012SANTA ROSA — Construction of a commuter rail line between Sonoma and Marin Counties could begin as soon as tomorrow after the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit board of directors today voted unanimously to approve a $103 million design-build contract with the joint venture of Alameda-based Stacy and Witbeck Inc. and Herzog Contracting Corp.

SMART sells $191 million in bonds to fund construction
December 20th, 2011SAN RAFAEL — updated at 3 p.m. — Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit today announced the sale of $191 million in multimodal rate bonds to fund construction of a train linking Marin and Sonoma counties. The proceeds of the bonds will be put in an escrow account while the group RepealSMART works to collect signatures to repeal Measure Q, which put in place voter-approved sales tax to pay for the commuter line.
