New Sonoma airport hangar home for Jackson Family Jet

Sonoma Jet Center has completed construction of a new $4 million, 21,000-square-foot aircraft hangar and is ready for its first corporate client, Jackson Family Wines.

The hangar, located at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, includes a fully equipped exercise gym and shower, meeting and office spaces, and lounge areas.

The new building is sized to accommodate large corporate jets including the Bombardier Global Express and Gulfstream 650, and is located adjacent to existing Sonoma Jet Center service and fueling facilities. It has direct access from Flightline Drive, the main airport road, and a vehicle gate to accommodate plane-side transportation.

The hangar was designed by architect Del Starrett and constructed by Koch Construction Company, both in Santa Rosa.

Santa Rosa-based Jackson Family Wines comprises more than 40 wineries in California, France, Chile, Italy and Australia.

The hangar and related facilities will help meet the growing demand for corporate hangar space at STS as business fliers seek a base of operations away from increasingly busy and expensive Bay Area airports such as Oakland (KOAK) and San Francisco (KSFO), Sonoma Jet officials said.

The Santa Rosa Airport recently completed a runway reconfiguration making the airport safer and more desirable for corporate aircraft to operate from.

“Many business jet clients who appreciate our high quality service have asked for more hangar space with us. So building a new corporate hangar was simply the next logical step in expanding the range of services we can offer. We plan additional hangar development in the years to come,” said Josh Hochberg, president of Sonoma Jet Center.
