Napa, Mendocino Adventist Health hospitals change names and mission
Following on the heels of St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake, four more Adventist health care facilities in the North Bay are changing their names and launching a new mission in a unifying measure.
Going forward, St. Helena Hospital Napa Valley will be known as Adventist Health St. Helena. Ukiah Valley Medical Center will change to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley. The Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits will be known as Adventist Health Frank R. Howard Memorial. St. Helena Center for Behavioral Health in Vallejo will also be announcing a name change this month.
St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake announced earlier this month it will be aligning more with its Adventist roots, and going forward, will be known as Adventist Health Clear Lake.
Once California Department of Public Health approves, the new names will align with the 21 Adventist Health hospitals and 275 clinics, spanning the west coast from Oregon, Washington, California and Hawaii.
'It's exciting for us to share with our community that we're a part of something bigger and we are declaring our intention to be a part of the community more than ever before,' said Dr. Steven Herber, St. Helena Hospital's president and CEO. 'As Adventist Health St. Helena, our goal will be to inspire health, wholeness and hope throughout the communities we serve.'
The new mission statement for the facilities is 'living God's love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope', which broadens the hospitals focus from solely caring for the sick to helping the community be healthier, the organization stated. It also reflects the hospitals heritage of providing physical, mental, and spiritual care and staff to break down the walls of a traditional health system and extend their reach more deeply into the community.
Like Clear Lake, in addition to the expanded mission and new name, the facilities will introduce a new tagline, 'Together inspired.' Adventist Health, a faith-based, nonprofit integrated health system serves more than 75 communities in California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.
