A Sebastopol research group specializing in memory loss has renamed itself the North Bay Neuroscience Institute.

The organization, located at 7064 Corline Court, Suite B1, Sebastopol, formerly was known as the Sonoma West Medical Foundation Research Institute. It is no longer affiliated with the foundation.

Napa County District Attorney’s Office has printed and distributed posters to businesses providing victims of and witnesses to human trafficking information on obtaining assistance.

The program, established by state legislation (SB 1193), requires certain businesses to place these posters in publicly visible areas. In Napa County, a total of 80 businesses are required to display the posters, which include bars that aren’t restaurants, emergency rooms, urgent care facilities, bus stations, farm labor contractors and privately operated job recruitment centers.

Failure to properly display the posters will result in an opportunity to right the violation and if uncorrected may result in a $500 fine for a first offense and a $1,000 fine for subsequent offenses. According to the county, compliance checks will be conducted by District Attorney Investigators.

The Redwood Empire Food Bank has received a $50,000 grant from Hunger Is to help solve childhood hunger. The Albertsons Companies Foundation, doing business as the Safeway Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) announced that Hunger Is, their joint charitable program designed to raise awareness and funds to end childhood hunger in America.

The funds were raised through the Hunger Is fall in-store fundraiser at Safeway and the rest of the 2,300 locations in the Albertsons Companies family of stores in 33 states and the District of Columbia. The fundraiser generated donations through customer purchase of participating products as well as customer donations at the check stand.

The $50,000 Hunger Is grant will go towards feeding children in the local community living in households that struggle to provide sufficient and healthy meals, including supporting daily breakfast.
