Burst.com changes name

SANTA ROSA -- Former software developer Burst.com has changed its name to Democrasoft Inc. to better reflect a new strategic direction for the company. Its stock now trades on the Nasdaq under the symbol DEMO.

For the past year the company has been creating and testing a web-based communications and decision-making tool called Collaborize. It is the first in an anticipated suite of products to enhance online communication among members of physical and online communities with a particular emphasis on reaching and implementing group decisions.

“Our new name, Democrasoft, marries the concepts of democracy and software, which is what our new products are all about,” said Richard Lang, co-founder, chairman and CEO.
