Crooked Goat Brewing debuts at Sebastopol’s The Barlow

Newly formed Crooked Goat Brewing opened earlier this month at The Barlow artisan and maker complex in Sebastopol, with 14 beers on tap.

According to the company, owners Rich Allen, Paul Vyenielo, Scott Timann, Will Erickson, Andrew Cook and Andy Erickson were encouraged to open a tap room by friends and family who liked the homemade beer and by winning the People’s Choice award at Santa Rosa’s Bottle of Brews event in 2015.

The company is the result of the six friends’ chipping in for a 10-gallon brewing system that got moved around from garage to garage in Petaluma. The first India pale ale (IPA) that they fermented was in Timann’s wife’s closet - shoes and clothing removed - with not so satisfactory results.

Now, the brewing system has found a home in Sebastopol.

The Crooked Goat Brewing tap room will serve 14 beers on tap: four IPAs, two double IPAs, three wheat brews, three stout (two of them from a nitrogen faucet for more and smaller bubbles), and a lager. Crooked Goat is also partnering with several local eateries to serve food at the tap room: BBQ Smokehouse Bistro & Catering and Vignette Pizzeria, both in Sebastopol, fresh pretzels from Full Circle Baking Company in Penngrove, and flavored popcorn from Comet Corn in Santa Rosa.
